there are two versions one is white and specifies use for mac and windows. as long as the vhs is of courseīasically i use an easycap usb device. The only thing is the transistion is obviously in real time so it will take a long time to transfer all video. The card is the only crossplatform option. And I'm not sure they support the thunderbolt version under windows.

As far as I know, the drivers still dont support usb3 on the mac side. Ohh, and dont get the wild idea of getting the USB3 external version. Hooking up composite and component is easy, svideo needs an adapter cable. The card isn't too bad, about $200 and it does HD as well. Once the result looks good, ditch the monster prores files.

My routine is to record to prores and then use handbrake to make an mp4 using the decombing filter to get rid of the interlace artifacts that dont look good on computer. If it has dropouts or weak signal, you may get black flashes. The quality is great as long as the tape doesn't have dropouts. Then it records in apple prores and I think another.

It records to uncompressed sd/hd unless you install a few of the codecs from final cut. I use a blackmagic intensity pcie card in a mac pro.
